Days 5,6 &7

I am finding it harder to get on here to post than to get on the elliptical. I guess that's a good thing. I have succeeded in getting 2 1/2 hour sessions each day. Saturday night I got done with the 2nd on at 11:57 P.M. Just made it!

I was a little disappointed when I finished the first cd book set and figured out that it was "book 1" and right in the middle of the story. I sure hope the church library has "book 2"!

Now I am off to get today's started...

Day 3 & 4

Day 3 wasn't too bad. I had to push through the 2nd session about midway through. I did end up missing the last 4 minutes of that session. Terry called from Chicago and by the time I got back the machine had timed out. I could have restarted it, but I didn't...

I have noticed my muscles in a good way. I am not extremely sore but I can definitely tell I am doing some work.

I got my first session done at 6:45 this morning since I had to take Melody to b-ball at 5:45. It felt really good to have it done. I have been questioning getting the second one done since I have had a huge headache tonight. It seems to be gone so I better get to it.

Day 2

Well, day 1 went well. It did not seem that hard. I even thought I could do a 3rd half hour but I thought I should pace myself. I would not have been able to anyway since I was in Louisville for hours last night for basketball practices.

Today I was a little less motivated for the first round since the girls were at piano and it was so peaceful here. I know that would sound like a great opportunity to work out, but I thought a little HGTV and munching sounded more appealing. I controlled myself and did it.

I will say that I also almost quit 2 minutes early. My book came to the end of the chapter so I almost called it "good" but I sped up and finished strong. I will get another 30 min in later this afternoon or evening.

Health tip: Set small daily goals to lead to the larger goal. Small accomplishments are rewarding.

Beauty tip: Try before you buy. It's a waste of money if you don't use it when you get home. Try an on-line virtual makeover. You can even upload your picture and then change your makeup and hair. What fun!

First Update

Okay, I broke myself in slowly yesterday with getting 30 minutes on the Elliptical (I planned to start today.) It actually went fairly quickly. I checked out a CD book at the church library yesterday morning and I listened to it while I was on the elliptical. I tend to get bored and I don't really like to watch tv while I am on it. It worked quite well. I actually even went over the 30 minutes to get to the end of a chapter.

I did another 30 minutes this morning while the girls were working on math and grammar. I thought this might be a good time since they usually don't need a lot of help. I did have to stop 3 times to help them with problems, so I will have to see if that ends up being a good plan or not. I plan to do another 30 minute session this afternoon.

Health tip: Find a way to enjoy excercise. I am going to keep stocked up on CD books from the libraries. I will only get to listen to them when I am on the elliptical so if I want to know what happens next I will have to work out.

Beauty tip: Men and women BOTH...wear a moisturizer with sunscreen every day. Your face with appreciate it!

Fresh Challenge

I am challenging myself to get healthier. The specific challenge to start with is for me to work out on our elliptical for 1 hour EVERY Day until I lose 40 pounds. Until yesterday, I had not been on it for months. This is going to be hard for me (I HATE to excercise), but I am determined to do it. I guess if I am travelling for some reason I will have to get an hour of excercise some other way.

I am posting this so that I am accountable to myself and anyone else that might read it. If you want to help me be accountable or you want to join me with your own challenge, let me know!

At this point I am not going to concentrate on changing my food habits. I think I need to concentrate on making one habit change and then add to it. I don't want to be too grumpy!

Health tip: We all know we need to drink a lot of water. I do find that easier to do when I excercise since I am much more thirsty.

Beauty tip: Same thing! Water is soooo good for your skin. It needs to be replenished.

Sponsor a soldier...12 Days of Christmas...Love from Iraq

Here's a beautiful way to help a soldier and his special lady back home for Christmas.

TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS…Love From Iraq

Our service men and women are doing more than their part. They need and deserve all the care packages, love and support that we can give. With the holiday season, they want to send their love back to their wives, fiancés, girlfriends and moms.

This program is designed to let our heroes be heroes yet again. It allows them to send their love back home in a loving and personal gesture.

Imagine your loved one is in Iraq and the holidays are here. You receive a box in the mail. Upon opening it, you find 12 beautifully wrapped gifts: bright red wrapping paper tied up with beautiful golden bows. Each gift is labeled with a card, “On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…” This is love from a serviceman overseas to the woman who is most important in his life.

You have the opportunity to make the holidays a little more special for a military family. Sponsor a serviceman’s Christmas present home to the woman that is most important to him for only $216.

You will be supplied with the name of the serviceman you are sponsoring.

An ad will be put in the Omaha and Lincoln newspapers to publicly thank all of the sponsors.

Please pass the word. People can get involved individually, corporately or as a group.
Ideas of groups might include:
Coworkers
Friends, neighbors, family
Church groups
Book clubs
School groups
Scout troops
Card clubs
Sports teams
Businesses

Please sign up your group and forward this on to others that want to support our troops for the holidays. This is such an exciting project! It was very successful in 2007.

The gifts need to be ordered, wrapped and ready to go by December 1, 2008. Please let me know as soon as possible if you are excited about sponsoring a hero. My goal is to be able to send out gifts for a platoon out of Kansas that has over 200 soldiers! I don’t want to leave anyone out! Please contact me through my website.

Anything you don't like?

We went to a concert Friday night at our church with Dennis Jurnigan. Wow, he was amazing. I did not really know who he was until I heard all of his songs and I knew them all! Okay, maybe not the one he wrote the day before and sang for us, but all the rest!

The one thing that hit me that I had to include on the blog was a comment/story from the wife of one of our pastors. What don't you like about yourself when you look in the mirror. You know, when you are getting ready for the day or getting ready for bed and you scrutinize yourself. Most of us have something....nose, teeth, smile, hair, short, tall, eyes, ears, etc.

Do you criticise yourself? Do you ever think of who you are really criticizing? Remember, we were made in God's image! You were made in God's image. That thought convicted me. Yes, I need to get healthier and eat better and take better care of the body I have. However, I SHOULD NOT dwell on the things that I can not change. I may not have the face of a supermodel in the world's view, but I am beautiful to those that love and know me. You are too!
